These are some ads that we found from the 1950's.

After carrying out our research on gender equality in the 1950’s, we have concluded that the 1950’s is not a good place to be a woman. We have seen that women are not treated equally to men during this time. Women were expected to be a good wife to their husbands, to take care of their children and to have very low education levels.

When we did our interviews we saw the views of a man and woman, born and raised in the 1950’s. The views of the male we interviewed reflected the way he had been raised. He believed that the woman’s place was in the kitchen, men should primarily provide for the family while the women should take care of the children. He was an example of the normal 1950’s man.

The Female that we interviewed had strong beliefs that males and females should be treated equally. They should both take responsibility when it comes to providing for the family and child rearing. She seemed resentful of the way women were treated in the 1950’s, as she had to live through been treated unfairly and she now realises that this was wrong. We can see from this that she didn’t think male and females were treated equally in the 50’s.

Many people in the 1950’s were okay with the gender inequality, because they knew no differently. As times have changed so have these views and people have realised that it is in fact not okay.

We have concluded that the best place in the world to be a woman is not in the 1950’s.
